Qatari, Turkish troops will not be allowed on Gaza committee:

Qatari, Turkish troops will not be allowed on Gaza committee: Netanyahu Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday (January 19) that Turkish and Qatari forces will not set foot in Gaza. Netanyahu made the remarks in a speech to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset. Netanyahu made the announcement days after the White House announced that officials from the two countries would sit on an “important committee” formed to oversee the post-war management of Gaza. He also acknowledged that there was a “specific logic” between Israel and the United States on the issue. In a speech to the Knesset on Monday, Prime Minister Netanyahu also claimed that Qatar and Turkey are two countries hostile to Israel. Therefore, the two countries will have “no authority or influence” in the various bodies set up by US President Donald Trump’s administration to manage post-war Gaza, he added. In fact, the US decision to include senior representatives from both countries on the committee known as the “Gaza Executive Board” means that they will participate in overseeing the Strip. Before the US announcement, Netanyahu’s office repeatedly stressed that Israel would not allow Turkey or Qatar to establish a presence in Gaza after the war. However, Netanyahu has highlighted Turkey’s and Qatari military presence in the countries that will play a role after the US announcement. “Turkish troops and Qatari troops will not be in Gaza,” he said in a speech to the Knesset. Meanwhile, although Turkey has expressed interest in joining a multinational force set up to oversee security in Gaza, Qatar has not embraced the idea, as the Gulf country's military is not suited to such a contribution, sources familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel.
